Customer Spotlight: Kate Silverton

You might know Kate Silverton as the renowned broadcaster and author, but did you know she was also passionate about growing food with her children? Alongside her stellar broadcasting career, Kate has long advocated for children and their emotional well-being and believes being in nature can be a great comfort.

Kate recently took delivery of a Sprout S10 Mini-Greenhouse and has kindly agreed to answer some questions for us about her experience with home-growing so-far.

Can you tell us about your experience with gardening/growing your own?

I don’t really have much experience, I’ve had a really busy life! Growing up in London, outside spaces are small so generally there are space limitations for growing your own vegetables. I absolutely love the idea of growing something in a small space, and that’s why the S10 Mini-Greenhouse stood out to me – due to its small footprint but with more than sufficient growing space.

What problems/challenges were you looking to solve that led you on the search for a greenhouse?

I work away a lot, so I never felt I had the time to plant and carefully nurture new seedlings. I was really looking for a system that would look after itself as I don’t have time to consistently water and tend to plants. An all-in-one package so to speak! It was also important to me to find something that was easy to maintain & simple for the kids to use. I want to take them on the growing journey with me.

What do you think about the Sprout range that Harvst offers?

I don’t know too much about the whole range, but I love the modularity of the options on offer – there really is something for every space. I knew of your irrigation system before the greenhouses, and then found the greenhouses really interesting after doing more research on the business. Originally, I came across the Sprout S24 which looked great, but I opted for the S10 as it was a smaller footprint, and a better fit for my garden.

What will you grow/what are you growing in your Sprout S10?

There is so much choice! I haven’t managed to start growing anything yet, but I’m really excited to grow some tomatoes! The kids can’t wait to be involved in the growing process and I can’t wait to experiment with them.
