Customer Spotlight: Sarah Lean

Sarah Leans gardening journey had primarily been flower focussed until recently. With a garden not large enough for a traditional greenhouse, Sarah began her search for something that would fit her space, whilst also being durable. Looking for something that wouldn’t blow over in the temperamental Scottish weather, Sarah opted for an S10 3-Season Mini Greenhouse.

Sarah took the time to answer some questions for us about her experience so far with Harvst & her S10 – give it a read!

What problems or challenges in your growing journey were you looking to solve that led you on the search for a greenhouse?

I love the process of growing flowers from seed, but the garden I have isn’t big enough for a traditional greenhouse.  I bought a temporary plastic greenhouse as a solution, but after several incidents of it blowing over, I went on search of something more permanent.

The Harvst Sprout S10 has solved my problem. It’s the ideal size for the garden space that I have and it’s built to withstand British weather! It’s also great to look at, it adds to my garden space and doesn’t look ugly or out of place.

How did you find out about Harvst?

It was through internet searches, and research on alternatives to my plastic greenhouse and the larger traditional greenhouses we all know. Once I came across Harvst I started to look at their social media and realised it was exactly what I was looking for!

Which Harvst products do you have?

I have the Sprout S10. I initially bought the 3-season version, but have since added in a set of lights for those dull and dark winter days.

What made you try our product over other mini-greenhouses?

I loved the time and energy Harvst put into their website.  Lots of information and pictures about the products, and all my questions were answered.  It made the decision to buy really easy, I knew what to expect.

How has our mini-greenhouse solved your gardening challenges and/or elevated your growing experience?

My gardening so far has primarily been about flower growing.  I love finding things that bring the pollinators to our garden and encourage some of the smaller birds. It was always a challenge nurturing seedlings in the plastic greenhouse I had.

Now with the 3-season Sprout S10 I have the space and can control the temperature, lighting, and water to the seedlings. With the Harvst app I can control the heating, watering and lighting in the mini-greenhouse which gives me the power of automation but also allows me to be hands on as well.

Also since getting the Sprout S10 I’ve started to dabble in growing some vegetables; spring onions, carrots, potatoes, and sprouts.  The Sprout either acts as a great place to start the seedings off, or as a haven in the bad weather.

The layout of the mini-greenhouse is also customisable. I can have 1, 2, 3 or 4 shelves, or even none! Right now, one large tomato plant has taken over the entire space, it’s growing through a shelf which is acting as a support! Come the Spring time, I have lots of plans to grow flowers from seed and will no doubt need all four shelves in there.

What are the main benefits of using an all-year-round enabled mini greenhouse?

Here in Scotland, we can have all types of weather in one day, meaning it can be very hard to grow things.  With the all-year-round enabled greenhouses you can give a bit of stability to either your flowers or your vegetables.  Growing anything can never be guaranteed, but the Harvst greenhouses give you a helping hand.

What are some of the main benefits of using a Sprout Mini Greenhouse?

I love being able to get information about my greenhouse remotely – with the app I can check the temperature, water, and lighting. I can tweak the controls via the app, to suit what is happening with the weather at the time.

What are the 3 biggest things you love about Harvst?

  • Harvst have been a fantastic company to deal with.  I had questions before and after purchase and all were dealt with fantastically.
  • Their social media platforms! Harvst are great at giving out advice on gardening. It’s nice to see them trying to help people and not just sell products with every post.
  • Harvst have really thought about their customers, there is a size or configuration that should suit everyone’s need, budget or gardening journey. I’m able to go and buy additional parts or spares easily, so as my needs change my Sprout can change with me.

What are the 3 biggest things you love about your mini-greenhouse?

  • The greenhouse is aesthetically pleasing. It looks great within my garden, day or night. Not only does it look great, but it’s built well.
  • My Sprout greenhouse is configurable to my needs.  I can add in parts or remove them as I need to suit whatever I want to grow or as a learn.
  • I love the self-opening vent.  It means if I’m not around, the greenhouse can regulate its temperature and avoid overheating.
