The Harvst automation and self watering system can be added to most polytunnels and greenhouses. It runs off grid, using solar power and rain water. A WiFi connection is not needed, but if your greenhouse or polytunnel is within range of your home WiFi, you get the added benefit of being able to monitor and control your system from anywhere.
Watering a greenhouse or polytunnel every day can become a chore, and when you leave home for a few days, plants can easily wilt and die, especially if there are a few hot days. Simple timer systems are available which drip water to your plants, but these can easily over water in cool periods, and under water in hot periods, especially in an enclosed space that gets really hot.
Harvst monitors the temperature and soil moisture to make sure that your plants get just the right amount of water. You can configure your greenhouse irrigation system using the online app, based on what you’re growing, and the time of year. You can water two zones separately, too.
What’s in the box
The self-watering system from Harvst contains:
- Control unit with built-in battery.
- Solar panel.
- Water pump.
- Two-zone electric tap (solenoid).
- Pipes, hoses, sprayers and drippers.
Where can I use it?
The Harvst smart irrigation system for polytunnels and small greenhouses can water up to 12 square metres (about the same as the beds in an 8’x10′ greenhouse).
The two zones can be set up with sprayers or misters to cover a large area with water (great for seedlings), or you can fit drippers to water directly onto the roots of larger plants.
