Remember to prune summer raspberries when the last fruits have been picked. Cut the canes that have fruited to ground level and leave the new shoots for next year. The old canes are brown and woody at the base whilst the new canes are soft and green.

It is important to do this as your plants will become unproductive if not!

Chinese cabbage is an excellent veg to sow in late summer when days are long and nights are warm. At all other times of the year it can be very temperamental and bolt prematurely.

It needs very fertile and moist soil to thrive and thin the seedlings to 30cm apart for large heads or to 15cm apart for picking leaves as 'cut and come again’ 😄

Birds can be a real problem in your veg patch, especially pigeons. 🐦

If you haven't got a scarecrow already, make one with materials that you have at home. It's fun! 😍

Make sure to move it around so that birds don’t get used to it! Also change it up by adding and removing different flapping garments.
Birds are pretty clever so lets try to outsmart them! 😄
